Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This policy explains the small amount of data New Map stores on your device when you use our website and platform. In short: we use only the cookies strictly necessary to run the service and keep you signed in. We do not use advertising, analytics or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell your data.

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. “Local storage” is a related browser feature that saves a small preference on your device. Some are essential for a site to work at all; others (which we do not use) track people across sites for advertising or analytics.

2. The categories we use

  • Strictly necessary — required to sign you in and keep your session secure. The service cannot work without these, so they do not require consent under UK/EU law.
  • Functional preferences — remember a choice you made, such as light or dark theme, or that you have already seen our cookie notice. Stored in your browser’s local storage, not sent to advertisers.
We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or third-party analytics/marketing cookies (no Google Analytics, no ad pixels).

3. Exactly what we store

NameTypePurposeRetention
nm-access-tokenStrictly necessary (cookie, secure & HttpOnly)Keeps you signed in to your dashboard between pages and visits.Session / until you sign out.
nm-themeFunctional (local storage)Remembers your light / dark theme choice.Until you clear it.
nm-cookie-noticeFunctional (local storage)Remembers that you have seen this cookie notice, so we don’t show it again.Until you clear it.
Our authentication provider (Supabase) may set additional strictly-necessary cookies during the sign-in flow to complete authentication securely.

4. Third-party services

We keep third-party embeds off our pages. When you choose to book a call, we link you out to Calendly; any cookies Calendly sets are governed by Calendly’s own cookie and privacy policies, and only apply once you are on their page. See our Privacy Policy for the full list of processors we use to run the service.

5. How to control cookies

Because we only use strictly-necessary and functional-preference storage, there is nothing to opt out of for advertising or tracking — we don’t do it. You can still clear or block cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings; note that blocking the strictly-necessary session cookie will stop you being able to sign in to your dashboard.

6. Changes

If we ever introduce analytics or other non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first, before those cookies are set. The “last updated” date above shows the current version.
