What are the Brandlight alternatives?
The Brandlight alternatives the engines named most were Profound, in 7 of 7 answers, and Peec AI, in 6 of 7, in New Map's measurement1. That is 7 answers across 2 weekly readings, a first signal only. Use the names as a shortlist to test, not a verdict.
Which companies do the engines name as Brandlight alternatives?
New Map's measurement counted 7 answers to the question "Brandlight alternatives": 2 on Perplexity, 3 on Gemini and 2 on ChatGPT, across 2 weekly readings. Seven answers is a small base, so the counts below are a first signal, not a ranking. The split of names by engine is not measured yet.
Brandlight and Profound were each named in all 7 answers. Peec AI came next in 6 of 7, and Otterly in 5 of 7. New Map, which is AI visibility software that measures engine answers, drafts the fixes and places a brand in press and creator sources, was named in 0 of the 7.

The chart below answers the question with the same counts, and lights Profound as the most-named alternative.
Which sources do the engines cite when they answer?
New Map's measurement also logged the domains cited in those 7 answers. dageno.ai, ecommerceguide.com and youtube.com were each cited in 2 of 7 answers. adweek.com, amadora.ai, babypenguin.ai, beomniscient.com and brandlight.ai were each cited in 1 of 7. No single domain dominated, and Brandlight's own site was one of the single-answer citations.
The same measurement also read 146 answers to 68 other discovery questions about AI visibility tools (how New Map measures). That is one week's reading of 68 questions about AI visibility tools on 3 engines (146 answers), not a trend: Perplexity cited a source in only 7 of its 68 answers, and Claude Code's 10 answers are too few to read alone.
In that reading, Gemini cited 9.3 sources per answer, against 0.3 for Perplexity. The sources behind an answer differ sharply by engine, so one engine's source list is not the picture for all of them.
The chart answers the section's question from the wider reading, with Gemini lit as the engine that cites the most.
How should you compare Brandlight alternatives before choosing one?
New Map holds no price or feature data for these vendors yet, so none is given here. Compare them on four criteria and fill each from the vendor's own pages:
- Engines covered: which AI engines the tool reads.
- Questions tracked: how many, and whether they include questions that do not name your brand.
- Refresh cadence: how often the readings repeat.
- Price shown publicly: whether a price is listed at all.
Two findings say why the first two matter. Ahrefs found in October 2026 that AI Overviews showed on 82.91% of US desktop result pages for branded keywords as of 29 September 2026. Only 2 of the 58 AI Overviews that showed text, 3.4%, named a rival. Our read: a search for a vendor's name mostly shows that vendor's own story, so a shortlist needs questions without a brand in them.
According to Kevin Indig3's 5 October 2026 analysis, ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews together showed that 91% of citations were exclusive to a single platform. A tool that reads one engine well can miss the others.
The flow below puts the criteria in order.
Does being named among Brandlight alternatives mean a brand is recommended?
Being named is not the same as being chosen. Ahrefs found in July 2026 that 43% of answers citing a brand's own event page never named the brand (34 pages, 9,886 answers). Lily Ray's June 2026 check of 100 queries found that 69% of self-promotional listicles cited in AI Overviews belonged to brands the answer did not recommend.
Answers also vary run to run. SparkToro's January 2026 study of 2,961 runs found ChatGPT and Google AI repeated the same brand list in under 1 in 100 runs. A seven-answer count, like the one above, can move on the next reading.
New Map was named in 0 of the 7 answers to this question, and Profound in 7 of 7. Plans and pricing for New Map are on its site.
For any alternative on the shortlist, ask whether the engines name it when buyers do not know it yet, and what they say when buyers check it by name.
What to do
- Ask Perplexity, Gemini and ChatGPT "Brandlight alternatives" yourself this week, and record which companies and domains each answer names, so your shortlist starts from your own reading.
- Ask each engine about every shortlisted company twice, once by name and once by category with no brand, and compare the answers engine by engine rather than pooling them.
- Read how a brand's visibility in AI answers is measured before you accept any vendor's score, and ask which engines, questions, refresh cadence and public price sit behind it.
Frequently asked
