Which are the GEO strategy consultants?
The engines name almost no GEO strategy consultants: New Map's measurement1 found Profound named in 1 of 5 answers to "GEO strategy consultants", and no other company. Choose on four tests: retrieval method, third-party placement, repeat-run measurement and per-engine testing.
Which GEO strategy consultants do the engines name?
New Map's measurement counted 5 answers to "GEO strategy consultants" across 3 engines over 2 weekly readings: Gemini gave 2, Perplexity 2 and ChatGPT 1. Profound was named in 1 of the 5 answers. New Map was named in 0 of the 5. The method is on how New Map measures.
Five answers cannot rank anyone. The engines drew from different sources and named almost no one twice. This fragmentation means a buyer cannot rely on consensus to identify who leads in this field. They support one claim: on this question the engines did not hand buyers a list to choose from. Only one company appeared at all, and only once.
The choice therefore has to rest on evidence about a consultant's method, not on who an answer happens to mention. A buyer who shortlists from one engine's reply is working from a thin sample. The chart shows the naming count for this question.
Which sources do the engines cite for GEO strategy consultants?
New Map's measurement found firstpagesage.com cited in 3 of 5 answers, the most of any domain. Five domains (agora-strategy.com, ey.com, geopolitical-strategy.com, geostrat.org, siegemedia.com) were each cited in 2 of 5. Two more (algorythmic.com, bcg.com) were each cited in 1 of 5.
The measurement lists domains, not pages, so it does not say what any cited page claimed. Our read: the set mixes consultancies with domains that only share the letters "geo", such as geopolitical-strategy.com.
For a buyer, this means the sources behind a shortlist are worth checking before the shortlist is trusted. Domain names alone do not confirm expertise. The chart ranks the cited domains for this one question.
How many sources do engines cite when buyers ask about AI visibility services?
New Map's measurement asked 68 discovery questions about AI visibility tools and services. That is one week's reading of 68 questions on 3 engines (146 answers), not a trend: Perplexity cited a source in only 7 of its 68 answers, and Claude Code's 10 answers are too few to read alone.
Gemini cited a source in 68 of its 68 answers. So the engines differ sharply in whether they show sources at all.
A consultant who tests on one engine sees a different picture from one who tests on all three. Perplexity averaged 0.3 sources per answer in this reading, so a plan built on its citations would have almost nothing to work from. The chart shows sources per answer by engine.
How do you choose a GEO strategy consultant?
- Retrieval. A preprint by Chen et al.2 (October 2026, 158,099 answers) found that where a page came back in the engine's own search explained 32% of which pages from a site were cited, and all page features combined explained 2.8%.
- Ask where they will earn you coverage beyond your own site?
- Repeat runs. AirOps3 found that few brands appear again when the same prompt is repeated: 30% on the next run, 20% across five runs.
- Engine and version. DEJAN AI4's 14 October 2026 test found table format won 93.6% on Gemini 3.8 Flash but 31.5% on Gemini 4 Argon. That result is version-specific, so ask for tests per engine.
What should a GEO strategy consultant change first?
Our read: the first deliverable should be the list of rewritten sub-queries and the pages that answer them, not a formatting audit. It rests on Chen et al.'s October 2026 preprint, where every page ChatGPT cited had first come back from the engine's own search. That study covered ChatGPT only.
A preprint found that pages citing content had titles and paragraphs matching the question; FAQ blocks and structured data were not linked to citation within the site. A consultant who leads with markup is working on the traits that did not register. The implication for a GEO strategy consultant is to audit the page title and opening paragraph first. If those sections do not directly address what a rewritten sub-query asks, markup changes will not move the needle on citation.

What to do
- Run the question "GEO strategy consultants" on Gemini, Perplexity and ChatGPT yourself, and record which companies and which domains each answer names, before you take any shortlist.
- Ask each consultant for the sub-queries they would target and the third-party sources they would place you in, and ask for results across repeated runs of the same prompt.
- If you want the engines' answers about your brand read and the fixes drafted, see plans and pricing for New Map, which measures answers and places brands in sources engines cite.
Frequently asked
Which GEO strategy consultants do AI engines name?
In New Map's measurement, 5 answers to "GEO strategy consultants" on Gemini, Perplexity and ChatGPT named one company, Profound, in 1 of 5 answers. New Map was named in 0 of 5.
Do AI engines agree on which sources to cite?
Not much. Omnia data reported by Kevin Indig in May 2026 found 2.37% of cited URLs appeared in all of ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews for the same prompt, and 91% in only one, across 3.7M citations.
Does page formatting decide whether an engine cites you?
Chen et al., in an October 2026 preprint, found retrieval rank explained 32% of within-site citation variation and all page features combined 2.8%. FAQ blocks and structured data showed no within-site effect.
